Rotorua to Gisborne

Gisborne is a superb seaside destination that is the first city in the world to see the light.
The city has that special 'x' factor that makes a break away from the daily hustle and bustle of big city living so relaxing and enjoyable.
Gisborne’s natural attractions include renowned surfing breaks, perfect swimming beaches, and miles of untouched coastline.
Gisborne is how life used to be. The laid back and relaxed lifestyle enjoyed by its inhabitants will soon become evident and appreciated by visitors.

Started our drive towards  Gisborne to catch up with Pernilla's friend from the vaulting days  right after breakfast. Took a break in Opatiki before driving the rest of the way. It was very nice to see Dave again. Realize that it's more then 10 years ago since last met. Amazing how time fly but even more amazing that it feels like just the other day we last talked. The kids were extremely happy to get out of a motel and having a garden, huge impressive house, a dog, 15m to the beach and wonderful Anna and Dave giving them some attention. We spent a long time on the beach in the hot weather before chilling on the sun deck with juice, beer and wine! Pernilla went for an hour run on the beach before Dave served us nice BBQed chicken for dinner. Being part of the typical casual and very friendly NZ way is so great. If we could take back anything from NZ it would this mentality!
