Chilling

The day after Midsummer was a real day-after-day! We took it really slow and went for a walk into Simrishamn town. We started walking and did several stops to try to get something in our landing net. Kevin and Isak kept collecting snails which they found heaps of. Finally down by the harbour we had an ice-cream and then walked slowly back again. Took several hours but, was really nice.

Kevin has during this week become more and more self-confident and is asking to go away with new friends all the time. And he handles it very well. Cams back when some of the kids has faller or when he’d had enough. It’s for sure that “little” Kevin is no longer so little! Scary, but very well timed as he’s very soon to become the bigger brother which I think he’s ready for.

Midsummer 2010

Happy Midsummer everyone!

Hope you're spending your Midsummer somewhere with just as nice weather as us. I can't remember last we had this superb weather in a Midsummer. But today it was clear blue sky from early until late. Perfect! But I had to start my Midsummer with a couple of hours work because Denmark needed assistance (as it's normal working day for them today) But when I finalized that with good results I could also start to enjoy this Midsummer. The men went to the harbour to buy some fresh fish which is what Midsummer is all about eating. And Lena went to get the rest of the groceries needed. Then we prepared it all together before setting a long table and started eating of all the goodies. Good company in good mood was a successful combination to a wonderful Midsummer! But as always you eat all too much and can’t move for an hour after dinner. But lucky enough Christian was stupid enough to challenge Sofie to bath. What he didn't realize was that the person he challenged is the person who's most likely to go for a swim even if it's only 13 degree's as it's today. So it was man our mouse - he choose MAN! Ha Ha Ha... what a sight seeing him swimming in the freezing water!! But all honour to Chrille and Sofie for swimming, not only once but twice! Well done!
Chrille, have you found your …. yet?? ;o))

The day before Midsummer we went to the swimming pools with Fam Ratz. The kids played, swam, and ate ice-cream while the men recovered from the late and wet night yesterday! :o) Daniel wrapped a towel around him, which Tobbe forgot and therefore got the funniest sunburn on his stomach!
The kids had allot of fun together and visited the playground several times during the day. Kevin didn’t even ask for mum or dad’s company any more. It was hard to see him run of with his friends the first time. But when checking up on them some time later and realising that I have no reason to worry as they were playing fine together with all the kids at the playground I could finally start to calm down.

Brösarps backar

Stens huvud

Me and Kevin are relaxing in the hammock

Fam Persson getting installed

Fam Ratz getting installed

Eating sausage and bread

Drinking too much beer, gin and jägermeister

Today we sent for sightseeing along the east coast. Stopped by at Brösarps Hills, Kivik and at Stenshuvud which had a beautiful beach. A shame the water on this side is too damn cold.
Later in the afternoon we got company in Simrishamn with two other camper families; Fam Ratz and Fam Persson. We helped them out to get installed so that we could start the bbq and eat sausage and bread together. Kevin was pleased to get others then mum and dad to play with. Isak and Emilia are great playmates and they joined eachother to the playground many times this afternoon.
While the pregnant mothers went to bed with the kids, the men tested the beer, gin and jägermeister to make sure it wasn’t too old. And apparently it wasn’t coz they drank a little too much!! :o)

HOLIDAY

First day of our week’s holiday! We got well installed with our camper van yesterday here in Simrishamn. And finally the warm weather seemed to have come to stay because it was warm and sunny from early morning until late night. Perfect condition to get in holiday mood fast.
This first day we didn’t get up to much. Just hanged around, went into centre of Simrishamn for some shopping. Other then that we just relaxed and enjoyed being away from home and everything that needs to be done there.

Hard work + play in the pool

This Saturday started with breakfast together with Christian. Then the men worked hard with the garden shed while I and Kevin played and served drinks and snacks to the workers. They got allot done this sunny day and I’m very proud of their work.
Afterwards we deserved to relax in the pool at mum and Klas!

37 days to go

Today it's only 37 days to go before we're expected to give birth to Kevin´s little sister/ brother. It's amazing how fast time has gone by the last couple of month. Since it'll probably be the last time I'm carrying a baby I went to a photographer and got some pictures taken as a memory. I feel like a hippopotamus, but I think he did a great job getting some nice pictures where my tummy is in focus instead of my face. This is just a preview of the result and I'm very curious to see the rest of the 200 shots he took.
Today it's again time to check the baby. First by the midwife in the morning, then by an ultrasound in the afternoon. As a mother to be you can never hear enough times that everything looks fine - so I've been looking very much forward to this day! Keep your fingers crossed that it all looks fine.

Recipe

As requested from some of the visitors on this page, here's the recipe to the dark bread:

Put the oven to 200degree´s C

Mix following:
5dl wheat flour/ vetemjöl
3dl rye flour/ rågmjöl
3dl graham flour/ grahamsmjöl
2½dl vetegroddar
2½dl vetekross
2½dl rågkross
2½dl havrekross eller vete-/rågkross
3tsk salt
4tsk bicarbonate/ bikarbonat
1dl syrup/ sirap
1litre sour milk/ filmjölk

Fill 2 buttered baking tins for bread and bake for 70min.

Enjoy!!

The garden shed project

Today we got most of the roof in place on our shed. Thanks to Jakob-the-handy-man! Because the summer never seems to get here and the rain keeps pouring down, we took the chance of this fairly clear Sunday to get the roof waterproof so that we can then keep building the rest without being nervous about the wood getting wet and destroyed. Jakob and his wonderful wife Lina and 6 month old son Matheus came around 9am for breakfast. Then the boys built the roof in a couple of hours before we enjoyed lunch together.

In the afternoon some other friends came around; Jane and Håkan with their two kids. The kids ran, played, and jumped for some time before we had dinner together. I used my herbs from the garden for the first time this season; tarragon, thyme, garlic and water as a bed for the roast which I left in the oven for a little more then an hour. The roast together with potatoes, sauce and lingon berries became a wonderful dinner. The kids ate like I've never seen before!
What herbs do you use for your cooking at home? Any nice suggestions are warmly welcome - I need some inspiration!

Rainy Thursday

OK, we like to bake in our family but it's accually the rain outside that never seems to wanna stop that makes us bake once again this week. This time it was time for a mud-cake. And we got it out just in time to still get the middle of the cake really muddy. JAM!! Still warm cake and ice-cream - not much that beat that as a evening snack!

Day trip to Rövarkulan

Today I and Kevin meet up by day-care to join up with the rest of Kevin’s friends and parents and a big bus to go on a day trip together to Rövarkulan. It was all very exciting to do something else but hanging around day-care. Just going by bus is a big thing for the little fellows! And Rövarkulan turned out to be a very nice little place where kids can play around in a little water stream and long tables where we could enjoy our pick-nick. It was a beautiful day and we had a great morning together!

This is the corner of the garden where the garden shed will be placed!
